Color,
those fine folks behind an app that does something we’re not exactly
sure of anymore, has partnered up with Verizon to bring live streaming
audio and video to the iPhone. It sounds like Color will now be on of
the only official methods of streaming across Verizon’s 4G LTE network.
The streams will now have double the frame rate for higher quality
streams on the network.
It’s starting to look like Color wants to be what Flickr thought they’d be when they released their bit size video integration: Twitter, but for video. Honestly, we’re not even sure why we’re dedicating digital ink to this news. Color keeps pivoting and pivoting and pivoting, and one of these days it’s going to pivot right into my do not care folder. If there was ever a spokesapp for doing absolutely everything wrong at the exact wrong time, it’s probably Color. The app strives to be something to someone, but honestly, we have no idea what that something is, or more importantly, who even uses the application these days.
Do you?
The best comment on the news has to come from Paul Heintzelman over on the TechCrunch article. It reads, “In the UK they spell it C O L O U R… clearly in Silicon Valley it is spelled Y A W N.” He pretty much sums up how I feel about this. I mean they’ve received 41 million in funding across series A and B rounds, and I still have no idea how this iPhone app does anything of value…
